Semaglutide- Milwaukee, WI

Ozempic is an FDA approved drug for weight loss and Wegovy is a medication used for the treatment of DM Type II. Both of these drugs are Semaglutide. Semaglutide is used for weight loss but has also shown to decrease cravings for alcohol, nicotine, and some other substances.

Semaglutide is a medication approved by the Food & Drug Administration (FDA), to aid in weight loss. At Spectrum we offer Semaglutide, the active substance in Ozempic and Wegovy. This injectable medication was originally used to treat diabetes and continues to show its effectiveness for weight-loss.

How does it work?

Semaglutide works by tricking your brain to think it’s full. Semaglutide will send signals to the brain, signaling that you feel full. In return, you should experience a decrease in appetite. It’s given in the form of a shot, once weekly. The shot will be administered in the abdomen, leg, or upper arm, rotated.

Why semaglutide?

For some people, dieting and exercise isn’t enough to lose their desired amount of weight. Our weight can impact many areas of our lives. Our weight can affect our self-esteem and how we view ourselves, which in turn can have negative effects on our mental-health. If we’re suffering with our mental health, that can further impact all areas of our lives. Being overweight or obese, also negatively impacts our physical health. Recent studies have shown, in patients treated with Semaglutide, a 20 percent reduction in Cardiovascular events like stroke, heart attack and death. It has also been shown to reduce heart failure symptoms like fatigue, swelling of the legs and feet, shortness of breath, and decreased exercise tolerance.

Starting semaglutide

An initial consultation will first be performed which includes a physical exam and lab work, ordered by Dr. Karwacki. You will be evaluated on the relationship between your weight, physical, and mental health.

side effects

At Spectrum we take measures to minimize these risks, including tailoring the dose of Ozempic for your needs.

The lowest dose of Semaglutide to give the desired effect will be used

to minimize side effects.

It is also important to note that obesity can have worse consequences on our bodies than the side effects of Semaglutide.

The side effects of Ozempic may include:

  • Nausea

  • Vomiting

  • Stomach pains

  • Diarrhea

  • Constipation

  • Stomach gas, “heartburn” or a bloated, full feeling.

There are measures to take to minimize these risks.

Other rare side effects are:

. Allergic Reaction

. Inflammation of pancreas

. Changes in vision

. Low blood sugar

. Gallbladder problems

. Thyroid tumors

. Increased heart rate

. Increased kidney problems in patients with kidney

disease

You will be monitored for all side effects and have a periodic exam and tests performed, if indicated.

Other uses

While semaglutide is only approved by The FDA for treatment of Type II DM

and weight loss, research is showing that in the future there could be other uses for it. Semaglutide is shown to decrease cravings for alcohol, nicotine, and some other substances. It appears to work in the pleasure centers of the brain which have been altered by addiction. This is important as semaglutide could assist people who are suffering from addiction and substance abuse. In addition, it could be used and helpful to individuals who are using medication- assisted treatment for disorders like opiate dependence.

Cost

We provide Semaglutide at a substantial discount compared to out-of-pocket cost for the brand name.
