Dr. David Karwacki
David Karwacki, DO - Midwestern University - Board Certified in Addiction Medicine
Dr. David Karwacki is a retired Anesthesiologist and is currently Board Certified in Addiction Medicine. He is one of the areas surrounding experts in the field of addiction and mental health. He builds off his various life experiences and practices to help him guide his clients towards better health. Dr. Karwacki loves to meet new people and discuss ways how he can help them recover.
Here is a brief overview and message from Dr. Karwacki:
I received my Undergraduate at the University of Loyola Chicago and obtained my Medical License at Midwestern University. After, I performed my Residency at the University of Chicago in the Department of Anesthesia and Critical Care. As an anesthesiologist, I managed a pain clinic. I performed epidural steroids and I never prescribed opiates for chronic pain. I exhausted other options, NSAIDS, Physical Therapy, and Alternative approaches, I also used basic common sense: elimination of contributing factors, like bowling or golf. I think I was decades ahead of my time. After I retired from anesthesia, I was asked to consider treating Opiate Dependence with MAT. At first, I was a skeptic: I thought they were replacing one opiate with another. I spent some time at a clinic as an observer and realized Buprenorphine therapy really works! I started to work there within one week!
Overall, my goal is to help each of my clients succeed and recover from addiction. There is nothing that beats seeing my clients become free of their addiction or being able to overcome their mental health issue. I always look to put a smile on peoples faces whenever they come to visit me. I do this for them, the community, and the greater good.

Anna Boteva, LPC, CSAC
Anna is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor with a Master of Science in Community Psychology from Alverno College. In addition, she holds her certificate for trauma-informed care and provides individual and family counseling for mental health and substance use disorders.
Anna is an experienced clinician who is dedicated to helping adults and adolescents build healthier, more enjoyable relationships with self through therapeutic treatment. Anna approaches treatment in an adaptive way, incorporating elements from multiple evidence-based practices (CBT, DBT, MI, Trauma informed care) the patient and Anna work together to create a treatment plan tailored to each patient’s unique needs, strengths and circumstances. Creating positive change, uncovering hidden strengths and discovering untapped potential are the primary reasons why Anna finds counseling so rewarding. She strives to be a partner throughout the therapeutic process, providing safe space for the patients to be their authentic self. Anna focuses on the individual, not the disorder to treat each patient with compassion and understanding. Everyday Anna wakes up and gets to do something she loves. She chose a career to love. She has found no better way to do work that is meaningful and transformative for others while simultaneously transforming, supporting and facilitating her own personal growth and transformation. The most fulfilling component is helping people to be the best they can be, individually and within their family system while reducing distress and discomfort. Providing and offering compassion, inspiring hope and teaching patients the necessary skills required to overcome their current circumstances. Her approach stems from an understanding that seeking medical and mental attention can be an intimidating and overwhelming experience, and for this reason, a trustful therapist to patient relationship is needed for delivery of compassionate care.
Areas of Focus:
Anxiety Disorders | Depression | Grief | Mood Disorders | Personality Disorders | OCD and Impulse Control Disorder | Substance Use | Trauma | Dual Diagnosis | Women’s issues | Family Counseling | Couples Counseling | Health Coaching |

Angela Golon, PNP
I’m Angie and I am a psychiatric nurse practitioner. You might consider coming to see me if you are contemplating using psychiatric medications to help address a problem you are having. In addition to psychiatric medication management, I can also do brief, solution-focused types of therapy.
My practice style is down to earth and friendly. My number one goal is to help you become your best self. One thing you can count on from me no matter who you are or where you are in your life is an open-minded, empathetic, and non-judgmental attitude. This, I believe, is the foundation of positive change and sometimes we just need someone in our lives who can be this for us….until we can learn how to be this for ourselves.
Change and growth are a journey and in many ways, this is our life’s work. As your psychiatric nurse practitioner, I will use the tools I am equipped with to help you in whichever ways I can as you progress along the road of your life.
